So as know, now on hot water and not luke warm 😂. I was aware from on here obbviously how hoses become moe softer and connections may need tightening. This i have done, but im finding i still have slight leak issues even after replacing some hose connections.
Just wondered what people have found best? Cheers for any advice

The fittings you have there are hopeless with hot water,you need the same fittings only larger that Gardiner's use on there poles rectus type fittings male one end female the other. Rectus female 1/2" barb,I would have as fewer joins as you can possible it cuts down on the leaks,I've used these fittings on my hose reel and don't have any leaks at all.

Use B&Q own brand connectors- the cheaper range which are blue on colour. Try to avoid brass and plastic together. Before the hozelock haters gang up- I run, and always have, a totally leak free system with twin DI'S using only these fittings apart from a brass swivel on my reel.

Depends how hot your water is running through the pipes,if it's any hotter than 35-40 degrees I found they leaked when I used them years ago. The thing is with plastic fittings you can only ever have them so tight or they break if you over tighten them and with hot they should be tighter than when using cold i find.

Nathan I'm now wondering now how many times you have been scratching yer bonce trying to work out when you turn on the water again at the pole nothing comes out so end up dashing back to the van.

As you found out It don't take much back pressure when using hot/warm water for those hoses and even those connector to pop off.

Single ear, double ear or even jubilee clip that hose to the swivel elbow. Put a JG connection in the hose if you need to take the reel out

I will also add that my barbed connectors are held in place by plastic cable ties- no jubilee clips etc. That's the beauty of knowing how to perfectly calibrate a controller!

I used to take reel in and out the van but now that ive fitted a motor to reel, thats a no no.
Think i will plumb it in better and rearrange things in van better, taking on board some advice. Cheers.

Smurf, thankfully ive not had any problems whilst working, its just been a small trickle hence my old scrims came in handy.
Looking a little closer its leaking grom the brass elbow join on swivel part.

That's where they used to leak on me with the petal type reel that's when I used to change the swivel fitting,if you want leak free use John guest for system and a large rectus 1/2 female to 1/2 barb you'll have no probs

Change both internal and external o rings on swivel elbow to cure any leaks- it's called maintenance, no need to replace your entire set of connectors, just cure the leak.

I used to do that when the hot water had nearly welded the o ring to the brass lol.

You'll find you need to recalibrate or back the pressure down with hot water. You just don't need so much pressure.

Yep, found that one out quite early. Especially using four jets and the usual speed/pressure it came out compared to the jet stream when hot

brass or metal connectors and double clip everything and use a power tool to get them extra tight.hot water WILL find any weakness in your system.....itll also destroy your brushes at an alarming rate!!

Hose lock fittings are a no go air locks and they leak when the water is hot. I was forever replacing the shaft in my petal hose reel as the metal swivel conector use to melt the plastic thread . Lower  pressure definitely, ive had hoses burst because of the pressure. Ive got rid of my l5 heater to risky . Im using cold at the moment as just set up my van again . Going to go emersion heater route when i get a min to do it im flat out at the mo. Ive got a 350ltr tank would this heater be ok for it

What tank is it?  Flat or upright?

It does seem a little on small size 11". But then you know your tank. I opted for a 27inch as i wanted it to reach as far in my 500l wydale upright tank as possible. But i had enough  height to slide it underneath the middle baffle/split inside the tank. If that didnt work i was tempted to use 2 x 2kw 14 inch elements one per side of the split. Kinda doing 250l of water each plus less time needed to heat the water. Going in from the front of the tank and not the sides,  if that makes sense

I ordered mine from heatrodshop.com but originally ordered a 1kw and then phoned them to change it to a 2kw. So if you dont see what you are looking for, phone them.

on our reels we use the brass elbow and put the hose straight on that - no connector just a jubilee clip round the hose

You'd struggle to run two elements - you'd set the house on fire (4kw)!

The whole idea of using 2kw is you don't need to upgrade your electrics.
