I know this machine is primarily used for office carpets but was wondering if is any good for marble polishing?

Some suppliers seem to think so, have a look here.
I would be doubtful about the pressure it applies and whether you could get suitable pads and horseshoe weights at  the right price.

Many people try to adapt different machines which are designed for other things.  However, the truth is that virtually any sort of rotary machine is capable of Marble Polishing.  The only real provisos are that:

1.  The motor should be centrally mounted (2 reasons are 1. Produces an even polishing pattern. 2.  It means you can access under kitchen units even in narrow spaces.)
2.  Machine really needs to be slow speed (High speed makes diamonds or pads burn the floor)
3.  Machine needs a tank as most marble polishing is wet and it's a lot easier with a tank.

So the answer is yes a Cimex will work IMHO but so will virtually any Mono Rotary machine.

The problems start when you want to do more than Marble Polishing

Ideally you need either the HD model (400rpm) or the DF model (800rpm)

Both of these can take horse shoe weights adding up to an additional 35kg.

The DF can take a lot more. I have ran ours removing paint while stood on top of it.

They are okay on a flat floor. Cant handle lippage.

The cimex was the first planetary machine available. They sold the design to DK Holdings who built their Tornado line which had variable speed, bigger motor and more weight.

The cyclone model will work but it doesnt like extra weight as it has the smallest motor in the line up.
It doesnt take a splash skirt either unfortunately.
It is 400rpm and planetary though so if it was a maintenance type job it could handle it fairly effortlessly.



We used to use them quite a bit but moved to a Levighator as it can do a wider range of tasks.

That said they are both out on a concrete polishing job today to do the final polishing after the levighator had ground it flat removing all the paint and self leveller.

I never thought I'd be able to remove lipage with the cimex but as long as i can do light polishing it's fine.
