Iv try fresh different chemicals for wool carpets half time I just don't feel happy customer seams be happy never had any complaints as such but just wondered if chemical u guys find works best on wool as I find them right pain as to clean

most important to use woolsafe products first of all.
each carpet has different problems ie spots stains loss of colour etc
you are probably doing a fine job but if the carpet is say 10 years old and never been cleaned
it has had some wear and tear pile reversal possible photo bleeching  you can do nothing about this
as it has already occurred. happy cleaning

Used same  chemical on whatever carpet I clean for last 20 years and never had a problem.  In fact same chemical on all upholstery too, never had a problem. If its working ok whats the problem.

I think with some wool carpets you need a bit of confidence that once they dry they will look better, you can't judge them on how they look straight after cleaning. Wool can darken when wet so in traffic areas you can over wet by trying to clean out dirt that isn't there...... it just has the appearance that it is still dirty because it's wet.

If it's a wool carpet and really bad I treat it as any other fibre, the customer wants a clean carpet not for you to give him excuses about..,......." its wool so I need to use mild cleaners, that why I haven't got it clean"

if you want to maintain the "Feel" of a wool carpet then wool safe is the way to go. dwell time is important with wool and these products. People buy wool because of this feel so its important and youshould point this out to customers as it reminds them why they bought wool over man made.

With regards to mike's comment, thats why using products that have brightners in them work great. if I ever get a wool carpet that looks dull i give it a spray with fibre shampoo and oxibrite and bonnet it over it finishes of the carpet and leaves it drier. this also works great when you have a carpet that has lots of colour variation

Is a made up bussiness that offers advice on what it deems that you should use on wool .

I use what ever I think is best to get that carpet clean on that day .
In order of soil condition
1 mpower
2spm
3 shockwave

All applied hot
And extracted hot if neccasery

You are judged on results not what some bloke in a office tells you what to use .
I don't think I have ever seen damage done to a wool carpet by a pro using to high a ph

Powerburst "works" well on wool  I use it when necessary.

Neil47 & Robin are quite right.  There is no issue using high ph on wool  provided you rinse correctly (acidic if you feel  you want to keep the fibres as soft as before you started).
After all how often do you clean a carpet in it's lifetime.?    Now if you have a client who wants you to clean them every week then using high ph - not flushing properly (which alas , from the machines I see some on this board use) is not going to do the wool a great deal of favours

Chemspec DFC 210 s good for wool carpets as is Hydrafree DFC as it has a booster in it and higher ph.

If a wool carpet is in a bad state with heavy food soils and lots of stains then in my view it is a restoration job
and I use what is suitable for the soils, not what may be suitable for the wool.
