Vomit - Advice / Help Please
« on: December 19, 2016, 08:13:54 pm »
Hoping one of you guys can help.  My grandson was sick on my wife's car seat.  Although it was cleaned up and lightly washed with some soap it still stinks.  Can someone guide me on best way forward because my wife's car is her office as she is a driving instructor.  So not good for business

Microclean by Bio Productions (Jangro supply this also under their own label) or Prochem Fibrefresh. They are similar (ish) products and should do the job.

You could also check out Prochem Natural Carpet Deodoriser, I've not used it but it sounds like it would do the job and you can buy 1 litre trigger sprays RTU so it would be a cheaper option.

What fabric is it? If it's any sort of material - i.e. not leather or leatherette (you don't get that these days, do you), it needs extraction cleaning - chemical choice is secondary. You could get wet with a sponge, then get your wet-vac on it, repeat several times.

Enzall from Chemspec. But also needs extracting.

kevhow wet was the vomit? And how much more wetter did you make it with what you added. I would be worried you pushed some of the offending vomit down into the cushioning under the fabric. Then you will need to reach that vomit, just cleaning the top fabric might not totally remove the smell

I would pour a large cup  ( if it was a carpet I would suggest a bucket) of any of the solutions mentioned above then allow it to soak deep into the seat then get one of the wet vacs you have and use the hose end pressed against the fabric to extract the wetness. You are looking for a waterclaw effect (search waterclaw on Google )

Dilute a few teaspoons of bicarb of soda in warm water, put in sprayer and dampen the area. Any make will do. It will remove the odour.
Not to be confused with baking soda though, thats different.

Pre-enzyme solution allow to dwell, rinse and extract. Formula 429 or micro kill can be used if the smell persists
