fix prochem turbo drier
« on: December 21, 2016, 10:18:45 pm »
i've had 2 prochem turbo dryers go on me now and it's frustrating as they still should work and should be fixable.

what's happened is the square piece that spins inside the fan has worn the plastic away to make the plastic circle and as a result the square just spins like crazy and the plastic stays still and nothing gets blown.

anyone know of a fix for this?

lol, there has got to be some irony here

your last post states how bad this forum is and everyone is a hater and then one minute later you ask all the members for help!  ;D

Can you take it off? If so then drill it and screw in 2 fixings from opposite sides. Or if it won't  come off then get a 2 part liquid metal and  pack that into the plastic

Just been thinking about this while in the gym, I think you are on a losing battle :-\

anything that spins needs to be perfectly aligned or it will vibrate like crazy, you will need to screw it from 4 sides so the shaft is pefectly centred then ooze liquid metal (or 2 part apoxy resin) into the hole,

I don't think  whatever you do will work :'(

thanks for the reply mike. you're probably right, anything will just cause issues when it's spinning and now you've pointed that out i think i'll lose the trust of just letting them run over night.

any suggestions as to a decent, long lasting blower that's also of a smaller size and doesn't weight too much? we barely used the dryers because of the hassle caused by their size and weight.

We've got a tumble drier with a similar arrangement on the bearing - metal shaft in plastic hole, that slipped & gouged out the plastic. About 15 years ago I mixed up some epoxy, wedged it into the plastic hole and knocked a matchstick in, and it's still working!
