RO unit in sunlight
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:46:46 pm »
Hi all , my RO unit + DI vessel is in the garage , my question is , does daylight/ sun effect the RO or DI vessels if the sun is shining through a window directly onto it?
Iv noticed some green marks on the inside of the DI vessel and wondering whether this is effecting the resin?

Micro organisms and algae will grow faster in water exposed to sunlight and warmer temps.
Same goes for clear holding tanks as purified water has had the mains water additives removed.

Removing the ro/di out of direct sunlight will help reduce the growth. You could also make a box to put them in too that will also help protect them from frost.

My garage isn't that cold really , so frost hasn't been an issue...
I was wondering whether the sunlight will effect the production of pure , recently, my production of pure has slowed down but iv not changed anything, yet my water butts take longer to fill  ???

i always find production slows a little as the temperatures start to drop making the mains water colder. Same as our electric shower needs turning up i the colder months.
