anyone here do gutter vac cleaning?
« on: August 07, 2016, 11:52:26 am »
I'm a carpet & upholstery cleaner, but want to add an additional service to my list.

I added oven cleaning, but I absolutely hate doing them,  some can take up to 3 hours depending on how bad, and with the going rate being £50 for a double oven, it just is not worth it. I generally now only offer it, if the customer has booked carpet & upholstery cleaning, and the oven doesn't look an absolute mess.

I'd like to offer gutter cleaning with a gutter vax, as the amount of equipment on the van looks minimal, and will work out a higher hourly rate than an oven cleaning add-on.

does anyone here do it, and have any pointers on equipment, and if it is a sought after service? do you charge by type of house, or per meter of gutter?

Thanks

Yes I do a wee bit but it's not as easy as people make out it to be I can assure you.
So if you don't like ladders or working at height then maybe not the job for you as on some jobs you still need to use ladders or other types of access equipment like cherry pickers etc.

Regarding kit there is plenty of choice but you don't need to spend a fortune on the likes of say a sky vac commercial when starting out as there are less expensive kit available from other suppliers that will do the same job.

As for minimal kit in the van you will be surprised what kit you will actually need as most just don't want their guttering cleared out but the exterior of their property cleaned as well. That's when it can start getting expensive as you can end up very quickly running an exterior property cleaning business.

Hello,

As well as making the gutter vac systems we actually clean gutters as well. As well as vacuuming them we also wash the outsides which is a nice add on to the jobs, we work on about £50 an hour on those jobs but some areas of the country you will get even more than that. In all honesty you don't need to spend a fortune, we ourselves use the 1250 watt kits on jobs as they small and easy to get on the van and get around houses. If you're looking to wash outsides as well we use a backpack with a carbon pole.
