18 year old block paving
« on: August 05, 2016, 04:29:08 pm »
Just went to quote approx 100 metre square block paving covered in the dreaded black dot and white lichen. Drive has never been cleaned since it was laid 18 years ago so gave a price to clean it of what I though was a resonable price considering of only £250. By the old boy reactions I don't think I will be getting that one somehow as he was expeting to pay around £50.  ???

What gets to me the most some people will pay thousands to get block paving laid then never bother to maintain it. Then when they decide like in this case 18 years on expect someone to clean it for next to nothing.

Do you chaps come accross people like that too?

Was speaking to a client of mine about having her drive cleaned. Quite a large area, i had in mind about 300 - 350 in mind. Anyway she mentioned she had a traveller call and quoted silly money to get it done. I wondered how high he quoted her and so asked (wondering if i was anywhere close) she said £40 couldnt believe it and she actually meant it was too high when she said silly money as well. Needless to say i didnt get that job.

At that price will be a scam for sure as they will probably only give it a quick spray over with just water and say it will self clean over time making out it's the best stuff on the market and will seal it too.
Will take them a couple of mins to do then demand they get paid.  ::)roll

I went to quote a customer who had paid close to £88,000 to purchase and have 438 M2 of very expensive limestone laid throughout the ground floor of his very large house.  When I quoted him £13000 + vat to deep clean, re polish and seal it he asked me if I had lost it ??? In the end we deep cleaned only 180M2 of it for £3000 + vat which he happily agreed to???  The more money they have the tighter they are

Like I mentioned already it will be a scam to extract 40 squid for a couple of mins so say work from tight arses so they are not as daft as you think they are.
