Got a customer that's moved but window sills have a yellow stain on edge any idea what will shift these stains have noticed it on other properties

try some cif and one of those washing up sponges with the green scrub pad

tried sponges and CIF  but no luck  anyone know what causes stains

It can be caused by a number of things from rust running of a metal lintel to somebody using an unsuitable chemical in a
previous clean, the thing is once its ingrained it can be impossible to remove.
Just be careful you don't use anything that will dull the finish.

I've found that green scrub pads tend to scratch plastics so are not that ideal.
As mentioned magic sponge (melamine foam) is less aggressive but still is a fine abrasive as thats how it works.
However I've noticed on some old plastics no matter what you use and how hard you try yellow staining don't come off.

One thing I've found when all fails that does shift staining on some is Cilit Bang Power Cleaner Limescale & Shine used with a magic sponge.

Just as a side note I've found using ubic 2000 too stronge can actually turn the plastic yellow too. Oops!...Yehaa

Might be easier using a white restoration creams instead.
I always used to hide my yellow stains  haha

Use a very very fine sandpaper if you buff with restorer you'll never know.

Trade strength solvent & upvc cream cleaners like siroflex is generally what I use on restoration jobbies. However you can't work miracles on some old stained plastics so customers are made aware and understand.

iv removed yellow/orange rust marks on numerous occasions mainly from sills where people have left spanners, screws, scissors etc. came off easily with Bond-it Upvc Cleaner

Hi Smurf, i would agree using cleaners based on sodium hydroxide especially when used at high strength can def cause yellow staining on plastics, also many TFR's are based on sodium metasilicate  or sodium hydroxide both very corrosive ingredients which can cause detrimental damage to plastics. for restoration of pvc surfaces i have found using cleaning/polishing pastes to work best, then followed up by wiping the surface with a Nano based pvc sealer to restore the sheen.  Tadgh

Not rust stains as its full length of sill only see it on windows / doors that are in sun in afternoons but thanks for the replies

Thanks Smurf tried Cillit Bang left it to soak for a few mins then sprayed some on magic sponge bit of rubbing was pleased with result but more importantly customer was impressed
Afterwards gave cill a good rinse with plain water not sure what it would do if left on plastic cill
