Gutters over conservatories
« on: May 09, 2016, 11:51:32 pm »
As in the title how do you deal with the gutters over conservatories that are near impossible to get to properly?

I saw one method where they used a high pressure drain hose I think and blasted the dirt out of the gutters but just wondering if there are any other methods?  I don't have any drain hose so just get what I can but if this method is widely used I will probably buy some.

Thanks in advance

With a Guttervac maybe?

Or if you are felling more courageous and can set ladders by the side of the conservatory you could use a pro gutter tool on a pole and drag the crud back to you. http://www.progutter.co.uk/

Note: both methods will struggle if the gap between the tiles and gutter is very narrow and/or slipped tiles and maybe other obstacles get in the way. As guttering is set on a slight slope the higher end on some jobs becomes very tight to get tools in also. Same as a lot of corners with flashing also gets in the way too.

I would not recommend using a pressure washer with a telescopic lance with a gutter clearing attachment to clear out blocked gutters as will make a hell of a mess. I know I've tried so is my last resort now if all fails to clear blockages from guttering and dowspouts.

Just upgraded my van and had to buy a new power washer so funds for a gutter vac  a bit short at the minute so may have to buy some more courage off eBay for them ladders for the time being  ;D

All joking aside gutter clearing using ladders is a very dangerous task. That is why now if I must as a last resort I use ladders that are fitted with an ankalad stabiliser (outriggers) http://www.brownsladders.co.uk/accessories/ankalad-ladder-stabiliser
& a microlite standoff that can rest on roof tiles. http://www.ladders-999.co.uk/window-cleaners-ladders/microlite-and-compact-ladder-top-stabilisers.html

Thanks for the links smurf

I've just recently dropped carpets/upholstery cleaning to go outdoors fulltime so theses are the pieces of kit I need to be looking at now.

I must admit even as an on call firefighter who uses well maintained ladders I still don't like using them with someone footing it never mind going up on your own.
