« on: April 18, 2016, 07:10:45 am »
Hi
has anyone tried eca water for cleaning carpets? if so with what results?

I could see Oztek is promoting it.

Just save anyone else looking it up! so strata what's your motivation? no chemicals presumably?

What is ECA?

ECA stands for Electro-Chemical Activation.
ECA is a patented technology first invented in Russia and has been under development for over 40 years. The Activation process uses water, salt and electricity. The activation process produces a potent and natural disinfectant and detergent.

How does ECA work?

Microbes, like other living things need a stable energy supply to survive. ECA destabilises and elevates the electrical charge (Oxidation Reduction Potential or ORP) of the water and creates an environment in which microbes cannot survive.
The energy difference between ECA (+900) water and tap water (+200mV) will kill 1 million E.coli in 30 seconds.

How effective is ECA on microbes?

Aside from effective control of common food spoilage organisms ECA is equally effective against 99,99999999% of dangerous human pathogens which include but are not limited to: Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp and E. coli 0157. Further studies on Bacillus spores, Clostridia, Vibrio cholera and Hepatitis viruses etc. have achieved equivalent results.

Sorry. Should have added more info. Motivation is that some of our clients start to ask about it specifically.

Yes good idea but in my experience people have scarcely a clue about how their carpets are cleaned let alone what chems you use on them - I usually say if they ask about chemicals that the most important chemical I use contains just two hydrogens and one oxygen - amazing how many intelligent people do not question this - I say that it is a very effective solvent - sounds interesting what you suggest but how do I produce ECA as cheaply as I can get H2O?

We noticed some interest of people from commercial and public sector recently.
Clients from healthcare sector asked about it. Its in their interest due to sanitising qualities.
Client from food production industry mentioned it already to use Eca for cleaning in their premises.

The machines to produce the Eca water are not cheap. There is a selection of points that explain why those above would be asking for it though.
We now decided to check the stuff.
Will be testing Eca on various applications in commercial and domestic environment within  next couple of weeks.
Interested what difference if any  it makes.

The technology already exists in some Tennant model scrubber dryers.
There is also Orbio which produces similar for use in housekeeping tasks.
I believe they also use it in Japan to wash vegetables.
At one time CFR had an ozone based system but it never really caught on.
There is a franchise in America that uses a similar system. I cant remember their name off the top of my head.

you might want to read this article

http://www.chemspec-europe.com/Article.asp?id=53975

if your looking for a USP then just marketing a hygiene clean will work as nearly everyone just markets carpet cleaning. the reason people are asking is because lots of products in supermarkets use the fact a product kills bugs as adding value.  people that work in big companies are exposed to this marketing and it changes how they see cleaning for the better in my view. This is a real marketing strat its called "entering the conversation thats already going on" if you have an out break in a hospital near you of the super-bug then people will be more receptive to marketing about hygiene in that area.  this works for loads of situations.

you also might want to have a look at boats. some of the guys on here have done norovirus cleans of this type. get some of these under your belt and it will show you have experience in this area,

BTW dont get caught up in the science behind stuff its the benefits to your customers that will sell any great idea, and with most things you can get to the same end by many means. new ideas have to be a market changer or make the economics different.

Good luck
