hi ....anyone else having this problem

 im finding that sometimes when i want to connect the Ejector sleeve with the Rectus fitting , to the Tail at the end of the pole, because you have to connect it by gripping the actual hose and  pushing  until it connects with a click,i find its not always easy, sometimes the blue hose bends just slightly,  i imagine that overtime this will get worse as the hose wears and softens at that point.

i`m thinking of something like a 3" piece of tube strengthening similar to this....

but on the outside of the hose?  what`s your thoughts?

Been using it since last November and can't say I've had that issue yet.
Maybe you're over complicating things, when it becomes an issue why not just cut a couple of inches of hose off and re fit ?

I would like to try them out but the kit seems a bit expensive. Having used them for a while what is the verdict?

Barry...you may be right  i`ll try cutting a couple of inches off

G & M .....Apart from the above issue which is very minor and probably just me,  the univalve is excellent, very responsive, just a tug and waters on & off.  used to use a tap before so had a loop of hose, am glad thats gone. and plus i can add or lose a section of pole instantly, whereas before i was lumping around a clx 27 plus extension, i would of had to take the tap apart to lose or add a section. the vans a lot tidier as well, the blue exceed pole hose is excellent as well iv never had any kinks or birds nests and i find it lays very flat, the barb with the 2 o-rings that joins the pole hose to reel hose can be a bit of a pain is it gets caught a lot, although im going to solve that with a cover.

all in all im very happy with it, i dont think its overly expensive. its a great bit of kit, would definitely purchase another

used it from day one and never a bent hose
You should be able to hold it right at the end, touching the plastic cover. If not, you fitted it too fare inside the pole

Tony, this is what I did
wrap this stuff tightly over the o rings and barbed joiner

handy stuff to have anyways , it stretches and sticks to itself ( fixes leaks, waterproofs connections, grips for ally trad poles etc. ) and then a few turns of electrical tape over it - works very well. 

When my microbore has had it probably gonna switch over to the gardiners reinforced pole hose on my entire reel so no need then for barbed joiner and o rings.

Know exactly what you mean Tony. Haven't found it to be a big issue though. But sometimes they don't seem to line up properly do they.  I'm wondering if the sleeve could be a bit shorter thus making that piece of hose shorter. It seems excessively long when you think it takes very little movement to release the connector. I've made myself a removable spacer for the top section so that I can lower it to eject the connector more easily, but this doesn't really help when connecting up. What about a short piece of mini bore fitted over the top of the pole hose. Wonder if that might help

The uni valve and ejector sleeve used together - perfect duo
I only carry one pole and minimal equipment - 40 ft supermax becomes an slx 25 or 18 in a matter of seconds. All else I needed to buy was a couple of different sized end caps. The concept is nothing new to me, I've been diy'n tubeless for a couple of years now but as simple as it is, having a product you can buy and works so much more neatly than your own mod is a benefit.
It certainly has saved me the cost of poles and time, plus the convenience of an un cluttered and tidy van .

Just a suggestion that you may already be doing, is make sure uni valve is switched on when connecting the sleeve ejector.
When the uni valve is in switched off position it will cause back pressure making it difficult to connect sleeve ejector.

Good idea, i have some of that Self amalgamating tape in my kit so will give it a try ;-)


Steven.....i always give a tug turning the water off before unplugging,  your saying leave the water on and unplug

When the uni valve is in switched off position it will cause back pressure making it difficult to connect sleeve ejector.

I had wondered about this. The old closing the car door when all the other doors and windows are shut syndrome comes to mind, only whereas air compresses water doesn't. That's got to be the answer. One question though. Will it not weaken the spring in the Uni-valve if left that way? I'm assuming the spring is compressed when the valve is in the open position from an earlier discussion.

tried your suggestion today steve, and yes it was easier to connect with the valve switched on, 

i did`nt bother with the spacer i just left the top section open 4" ish.  I`ve reduced that space now to about 2" and find it a lot better connecting......am happy

Took my spacer off too Tony but found I kept forgetting and closing pole fully. Then instead of turning water on by pulling on hose when doing downstairs I kept disconnecting the hose from the pole. 
So I made the spacer removable by cutting a 15mm wide strip out of it. Clips on and off now without removing the pole section

I was talking about the  hose less kit. I am using the uni valve and like the aqua daptor its great.
