Windows and carpets on one site
« on: January 27, 2016, 06:12:51 pm »
Do any of you guys have both services on one website? I've always kept them separate and been happy with them separate but I want to expand the window side into an area where I'm already registered with Google places and ranking well for carpet cleaning. So basically I stand a higher chance of getting on to google places for window cleaning in that area.
I know all the for and against debates on this subject. That's why I've always kept them separate. So the question really is to those who have both services on one site .
Did you have them separate at one point? Did you notice a drop in enquiries for either service once combined on one site? Or does it work just as well with both services on one site?
 Thanks in advance
 Dan

Dan,

I started off just doing windows (water fed pole system) Got a stack of commercial work, along with domestic just from my website. Did not offer any other service for 2 years.  Then I got asked about carpets, and other avenues of cleaning.

We then added well worded pages on my website, and it works really well. Many of our bookings was down to the fact we do everything in-house, and don't sub any of the work out.

A well worded website will work wonders.  I  personally have no issue with having other avenues of cleaning on my site.  I ended up selling my domestic round a few years ago, as most of my work is carpets and end of tenancy cleaning  (which incorporates windows, oven cleaning etc) .

It's personal choice, but it has not stopped me just getting domestic or commercial carpet cleaning.

Dan

your in a great position to offer the benefit of buying two services for one price.

This is how I would go about it. lead with carpet cleaning and offer windowing clean for free or at a reduced price. not sure if you know about carpet cleaning maintenance place? it where a customer pays monthly by bank for a deep clean once a year and a highlight clean ever six months.  I sure you can see the potabilities with marketing in this way for both you and customers. if your the type that offers lots of cleaning services like deck and patio cleaning as well this can be a great option.

This counters the view that your jack of all trades master of none into offering value

plus one thing that most carpet cleaner dont do is keep in touch with old customers, if your on their property each month who are they going to call when stuff needs cleaning. the guys they used one and have not heard from or the friendly guy they know?

Respects

Hi Dan I think there is definatly a good market for windows and carpets on the same site in fact when I did it I got lots of contact for the dual service. Trouble was that I was really really bad at window cleaning and didn't enjoy it so  dropped it.

Darran agree with Dan great sites, do you sand the floors before polishing or do you do the American finish company system sorry cant remember the name but they use a rotary to clean it up a little then polish id afterwards.

Seemed a good system to me but then I know nothing about wood...... other than trees have a lot of it.
Thanks  :)

Hi Jonathan, we do strip the floors, then polish them up. Others we clean, seal then polish... depends on the floor. Good money though.
