Pump
« on: February 01, 2016, 10:38:35 am »
Hi guys, going to build myself a system in the spring And go 50/50 I think after 8 years trad!

I understand the basics of a r/o system and I've got an empty garage for water storage, got plenty of room for a tank in the back of my van or the work skoda estate,  I'm just struggling with the pump side of things.

I can run a pump from a tank in my garage to the tank in the vehicle powered by the mains, but how does it work from the tank to the pole?   is the pump powered with a seperate battery, and how do you turn the pump on/off when your working so it's not constantly pumping when you stop? Thanks for any info

The flow is regulated by a electronic controller you need a leisure battery to power controller and battery ,  Unless you are competent with electrics and go all out diy just buy a water genie pump box its £300 but its all in their ready to connect to water tank then to hose reel .

I have a 400ltr flat tank and a pump box it couldn't get any simpler , I bought tank hose and other bits and pieces from Gardiners .

Pump from IBC tank to the van:

A submersible will do fine. You will have to cut the top of the ibc tank to get it in and then feed the cable through the vent.  Machine Mart sell them but are available from a variety of places.

The pipe out will also go through the vent hole. We use a 1" transfer hose from Machine Mart.

The pump used to pump water from the van tank to the pole via the hose reel is this;

Battery to power the pump would be a separate leisure battery.

I see, so the controller goes on and off as you use the hose then. Gonna try build as much as I can myself some of the systems you see are rediculous ammounts for what it involves. Cheers guys  :)
