Fairy liquid
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:41:24 am »
Hi everyone

Any recommendations on the best way to extract fairy liquid from a carpet without the machine clogging up!?

Liquid defoam does not seem to be able to cope.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks
Steve

Have you tried pouring the anti foam directly onto the carpet?

Hi Steve

Very difficult to remove fairy with a portable.

The powdered defoamers are much better and can be spread on the stain prior to extraction.

I don't think I would put liquid defoamer directly onto a carpet.

Cheers

I would use defoamer straight onto the carpet. I have done this dozens of times and I have never had a problem. Its not as if its a solvent. Depending on how much fairy is on the carpet you will get it off with a porty no probs. Might be an idea to put extra defaomer in your dirty thank though.  Pout it straight on and brush it in or work it in with a bone scraper and extract with warm water.

Thanks for the replies.

There was alot of fairy spilt!  Client tried removing with water and scrubing and ended up in a right pickle.

I did not fancy using liquid defoam directly onto the problem. So i just perservered. May try it next time.

Thanks again

You did not mention they had a go, washing and scrubbing,
It's probably damaged beyond repair, pile would have burst and problem forced through to the backing and underlay.

For future reference, if at a loss what to do you can use salt to neutralise it, it takes a lot but is cheap and effective.

Do you add the salt to the recovery tank? & if so... how much salt? :)

Not in the tank, on the carpet, loads needed but depends of course on the size of the spill.
