Hi guys,

Just looking for some advice on how best to clean a wool sofa that is feather filled. Not seen it yet as this is an e-mail query.

Will this be a straight
Forward clean or a headache?  Any info helpful cheers in advance

Don't think I have ever cleaned a 100% wool sofa, are they certain it is wool? But to be honest I don't ID All the fibres I clean so I might have done without knowing.

Just standard cleaning methods would be applicable I think,  subject to testing & use a wool safe  product  I don't see it as a problem.

As for the filling that makes no difference we should not be allowing the cleaning solution to pass through the fabric so that it effects the filling

Do you know how old the furniture is, I would guess pretty old if its feather/duck filled,

it is critical if it really is feather filled that moisture does not penetrate through, otherwise you can end up with a lumpy mess because the feathers ball and stick together.

I cleaned a cashmere wool sofa many years ago. Absolute nightmare. You can't use agitation at all.

Some people have more money than sense buying a sofa like that especially since they lived in a 3 bed terrace on a reasonably busy side road.

I've been to look at it since this post and I can't do the job anyway as it is up 4 flights of stairs and my machine is to heavy to get up. It's an apartment inside a Manor House and it's very nice. The sofa is only
3 years old and doesn't really look dirty. Not sure if it is 100% wool.

Not wanting to be shot down in flames but rather than lose out could you have low moisture cleaned it using an appropriate solution and micro fibre mit?

Good idea, however I am  a newbie and have never tried that method and certainly Wouldn't want to on this particular sofa. I've had training to a point but need to a dedicated upholstery course. It's a shame as it would have been a pleasant job
