Hello guys

Just been contacted by one of my block management companies about spraying the paths at one of the sites with Hypo, no pressure washing, just a diluted rate of hypo.

They have had this done before by another contractor and claim it works fine, I always thought you had to wash down afterwards ?

Any guidance appreciated

Kev Martin has a far safer way of cleaning Algae from Paths….you will get f***ed it you get caught spraying bleach.

They still adamant that previously was just sprayed

they surface is just concrete flags and has far as I'm aware they are just green, so old dear almost went over on them.

Rob , if this has become a slip hazard i would just pressure wash it to remove the organic soiling .
A decent pw will bring the flags up like new without any chems  .

I would argue that hypo would kill any organic growth in the slabs so will stay cleaner for longer than just cold water pressure washing. Likewise using the likes of kevin’s or other trade strength products that are specifically formulated to treat surfaces would stay cleaner for longer too.

I wanted to pressure wash, they don't want the mess or outlay. The main issue is that someone, was just spraying and leaving the flags which sped up the process, thus becoming cheaper, I guess!

This was done at several sites I do the windows, though I have argued that he pressure washed as well, there adamant he didn't!

I had a go at my Indian stone flags Saturday and has improved them, but not as good as pressure washing.

Thing is I'll get paid regardless of the outcome, but would have liked it to look great when finished.

Doesn't help when they aren't sure what he was using!

I'm guessing they are just fishing to find a cheaper quote or would just stick with the firm they are currently using.

I do all the Window cleaning, pressure washing and gutters for the company, to date it's 15 blocks with another 3 coming this year. I don't have to submit quotes, I just get the knod and then left to do i I've been working for them for almost 12 years.
Not sure what has happened with the other guy, not really asked, maybe I'm cheaper

Today, went well, a lot quicker than pressure washing

Hypo,

Sprayed, left to dwell for 30-45mins. One of the guys is visiting the site today and will let me know how it looks.
