My reel has had a few repairs and the handle is close to the ground, so to legs splaying out. When its in van, the handle gets close to a bit of wood I secure reel with.
Yes a new reel would do it, but want electric mounted in van and windy one for the odd time it has to be removed

You've probably just put the legs on the wrong way round if it's one of the petal style ones as I've done the same thing

It seems a lot of yanks use cox or hannay electric reels. Mind you they are not expensive as the same make reels being sold over here.

NO its just knackered. I wired legs so they don't spread and its ok now. They don't like being pulled out of van

i have the waterworks electric reel that you fit to the cloverleaf style metal reels and it works a treat, i wouldnt go back to a manual reel now!!
