I am going to be buying an airflex storm in a couple of months after doing the 2 day cleansmart carpet and upholstery course.

i just wanted to know  if anybody on here could advise me whether it is worth forking out the extra 200 quid for the 800 psi pump? Or is it more than fine to just have the 200psi pump on the storm

Also, it also worth me paying the extra £500 for the magma inline heater? It sounds a good feature to have instant hot water at your disposal.

Any advice would be great

Do you need 800psi? What for?

Apart from emptying you tank quicker I can't see the point , 200psi will be fine for any portable.

I would'nt pay £500 for a heater either, that's daft money for the extra cleaning effect it will achieve.

If you are flush with cash buy the heater but if you are on a budget then use the £500 on a second hand rotary

most carpet cleaning upholstery you will be fine with 200psi inline heater not with worrying about
unless you doing end off ten  cleans  were you will start cleaning straight away. I as soon as I get
to job fill machine up with clients hot water put on heater hover carpets get everything ready
by this time heater has got water to my preferred heat ready to start working. if you are thinking
of tile and grout then 800psi would be a good choice have you checked out alltec machines absolutely
awesome machines I have 2 of these if you interested I could sell you 1 both in mint condition.

Water flow on 200psi with 500-800psi rated pump will be better then 200psi on 200psi rated pump. I have storm and big difference between 200 and 300 psi, 300 is just faster cleaning.

Heater? No need to clean everything with hot water but you can not be without it.

If you are short with money then buy second hand one. Allso you migh consider some machine with immersion heater like Enforcer?

Absolutely. Its about flow not pressure. An 800psi pump will provide more flow at usable pressures. Why do TMs have 1000psi pumps? do you clean carpet at 1000psi? ... No ..its about flow.

The cleaning pie contains many slices Agitation, Chemical action, Dwell Time and Temperature.  Make use of them all. Not doing so is like tying one arm behind your back and trying to clean a carpet. It is possible but why would you want to do it.

Flows an interesting subject, pumps have a  psi & flow rating  yes  but  you get a 3 jet wand  with 02 jets or 01 or 03  and what happens to the flow?  Use a 800 psi pump reduced to 200psi and a 300 psi pump reduced to 200psi  do you think the 800psi is pushing out more water through the same jets than a smaller pump?

Jets have more control over flow than the maximum psi of the pump

True.. But doesn't the pressure become inconsistent with more flow on lesser pumps. Does a 200psi pump operate at 200psi with 03 jets?

I only have a weedy 400psi pump but it has more flow at 150psi with 15 jets than my previouse machine had at 150psi  with 03 jets. I have thought of upgrading the pump to the type you use in the future because of the greater flow potential.

Also the storm has the vacuum to match cleaning at 400 psi very well so why limit yourself? I find cleaning at 400 psi much quicker and effective than at lesser pressures.

Buy the 800psi, clean at 350. Buy the heater as well, even with hot tap water the extra boost makes hell of a difference.

i rarely go above 200 psi to be honest, im always worried about over wetting. should i be cleaning at higher psi more often??

Tim, just move the wand faster, no point to buy high end porty if you still on the same speed.

I have a 800 psi storm, although I mainly clean at 200 psi and about 100 psi for upholstery, if I was to buy another storm, I would still probably buy another 800 psi machine  saying that I've had my machine since june and I still havent got the 800 psi spring as they haven't got any in stock so the highest pressure I can get at the moment is 600 psi

Yes it empties the tank quite a bit faster as the pump is  forcing out more water. It cleans faster though. As you also said about larger jets that really makes a massive difference in how fast the tank is emptied. Its good with auto fill though.

Tim, you should clean at a pressure appropriate to the fabric and water recovery potential. Give higher pressures a go on a few different surfaces, It really speeds things up and gives a more thorough clean.

Pay the extra and get 800 psi and the heater. You won't regret it when you get those mingers and you can blast it with everything.

did a large encap jobby over the last two days, a bowling alley and a fun farm next door, same owner, one job, in the bowling alley there was some nice black top along the viewing area walls wher folks watching the bowling had spilled various drinks,  on the not to bad bits the  rotary and the omega citrus from restormate did rather better than i expected it has to be said, but didnt cope with the heavy black top, so i cranked up the psi and went for it with my storm,  citrus premium prespray first, then blast away, and it really did the job....... very happy, went over with a pad afterwards and job was a good un.......   so, higher psi a bit more often for me.
Also have to say the cleaning capabilities of omega, at such a great dilution rate are very very good...........  lots of comments re the smell as well, though i suspect it smells just the same as surround ultra......  (not that thats a bad thing by any means)!
