So, what sort of value would be fair for an Omnipole tank on galvanised steel chassis? I have tried to get my van fixed at a reasonable cost but it's time to say goodbye to it. I could have the fuel pump changed and the whole fuel system cleaned out for about £900 - but where does it end? Although that would probably fix the current problem (it drives but it's very poor performance - especially around town), how long till something else happens? It's a Renault Trafic, '03 reg with 127,000 miles. Bodywork tatty. If someone knows how to repair, I would take anything over £275 for it - I've been offered that by some company, but they would want the tank removed.
Realistically, I imagine that they will buy the van. But what about the tank? It's an 800 litre red Omnipole tank - the weird rhomboid-like shape and it's on the galvanised steel chassis. It is currently fitted into the van. It's been in there getting on for 10 years - but tanks aren't the sort of things to wear out.
If somebody wants to make a reasonable offer for the tank and come along with a transit size van to remove the tank and take it away, be my guest.
I'm collecting a new van and delivery system tomorrow. The old van is insured and taxed still so I'm not desperate (yet) to get shot of it all, but naturally I want to try to ensure that I get back some of my original outlay.
If you want to try your luck at fixing the van with the tank fitted, £300 should do it. If you just want to dismantle the tank and steel chassis, you might be pleasantly surprised if you turn up with some banknotes
The tank concerned is similar to the one in the link below - but red and 800 litres.
