Couple of questions...
« on: June 24, 2015, 08:31:28 pm »
Evening lads, just a quick couple of question if anyone could help point me in the right direction. I've just started down the pressure washing road and have been working with a cheap petrol washer and lance but
I've just purchased a Honda gx390 and 16'' whirlaway.
Now I'm going to push for more business.
The questions were 1, is the going rate to charge for drives about £2.50 sq metre and £3.50 sanded? And also, is the whirlaway powerful enough at 15ltrs pm to remove weeds or will they need to be mostly removed before starting? Thanks in advance.

Mark.

Question 1.  You will not get an answer on pricing, as everyone has different cleaning methods, and pricing structures.   You are not a million miles away with your guess.
Question 2.  Only my personal experience, but I find a lance , and turbo the best method for block paving.    You can use an FSC, but you need a big machine to run it effectively.

Rate per sq. meter sounds ok to me - it's a good starting point for smaller drives/patio's, large stuff you will need to drop a little or work at a 1/2 day and full day rate otherwise the price can become astrnomical based on meter sq.

Defo NOT - mines 3000 psi 21 lpm and it doesn't take out weeds and heavy moss - turbo all the way here

Fsc good for Tarmac, and non weedy flat areas

I don't charge per square metre as it makes no odds to me if I'm doing 50 or 57m and you will have to consider what the competition is like in your area and other factors.
15lpm will run a whirlaway but it will struggle with weeds and moss so will need to turbo alot of it.

If you want an FSC to take out moss and weeds you need AT LEAST 23LPM 250 Bar :) 15lpm is toward the lower end of the scale on an fsc in terms of performance 15° jets help

As a general rule the 16" Whirlaway seriously hamper the performance on lower flow machines being skirted only

You will find after cleaning, that when go back to re-sand you will notice all the bits of moss you missed, and will resort to bending down and sticking your keys to gouge out the offending substance, while muttering to yourself " how the heck did I miss that "  ;D
