Hi,
I am looking to purchase a Victor sprite 500 I have seen locally.
Upon googling I can't seem to find any info regarding it.  I can only see the 450.
Has anyone got one? 
It's strange that I can't find any info at all on Google.

I don't think there is such a thing a s a 500 Victor sprite.

The 450 is 17 inch and the 400 is a 15 inch to which I have both.

If your looking to clean floors then the thing to bear in mind is the speed and where the motor is mounted.

High speed for polishing where the motor is mounted off set towards the back nearer where the handle is. Often found on ebay because people have found they are not suitable for cleaning and they cant get rid of them.

Lower speed (150 to 300 rpm) for cleaning and stripping where the motor is mounted above the center of the machine for weight gain.

I find the most versatile machine is the Victor Sprite 400 150 rpm for domestic floors due to weight. The 450 @ 17 inch is more suited to commercial jobs and a little heavier.

Now I am confused.

It does say sprite 500...

It would be used for commercial office  cleaning etc..

Sure enough it is a 500 which ive never seen b4. And being standard speed I would think its 300 rpm. Being  a 500 this machine could be around 20 inches in diameter perhaps.

Great machines but the weight of this machine for its width would be a disadvantage for any carpet work.

Great as a maintenance machine for hard floors but at 20" with the same motor as the smaller Sprite it wont be too productive in my opinion.

Stick with a 450 or go for the Trojan with the larger motor if you want a victor.

It is called the 500 because it relates mm to " in other words 500mm is 20" roughly

Personally I think using a rotary on carpets is complete overkill due to the weight of the machine and the risk of damage.

I used one many years ago on a commercial carpet and it took alarming amounts of fiber out of the the carpet, not far off damaging it. Goodness knows what it it would have done to a domestic carpet which it seems many companies use them for!

It is sort of beyond me why these machines are sometimes advertised as carpet cleaning machines, when in fact they are floor cleaning machines.
