Shurflo Not Pumping Water
« on: March 27, 2015, 10:43:45 am »
Hi,

Got a shurflo fairly new. It sucks water in from the tank no issues, but on the other end from pump to hose i get 0 water coming from the pump. Ive Re-Calibrated/ Checked Connections / Checked for any debris on pump connections and hose.
Anyone else had the same issue?

Is there an airlock?  Does it pump water through the pump and out through a short bit of hose that connects to the hose reel?

Are you using a flow controller, and could it be that which is causing the problem, and not the pump?

Have you connected it back to front? Does water spurt out when you take the outlet connection off?

If the pump is drawing water from the tank, As Tosh suggests Air in the line seems most likely or as dave suggests check the the pump is the correct way round.

Does the controller display any messages? what flow rate and calibration have you set it to?

If there is air anywhere in the system it can take a few minutes for water to run through.

Hello guys, yesterday I set up a tank with hose into shurflo pump, and went direct to a battery, the pump made all the right noises but no water would come through, I disconnected hose from pump outlet and no water came out. This was an old pump and at 1 point was submerged in water when not in use so I didn't no what would happen, it's back in the parts box

I no nothing about pumps just sharing info

Hi sorry for the late reply been busy.

It was an airlock, I had to siphon the air out of the pump. It seems to be happening daily.
Its a 350L Tank. Only time I drive on it empty is after a days graft, and then  its only 20/30 mins back home.
Is there anything I should be doing to prevent these airlocks?
Look like a right tool when I get to my first job in the morning and im there in van blowing on my pipes - lmfao.

Shurflo pumps are self priming so you shouldn't be getting airlocks, you might have a faulty pump.

If you are running a flat water tank near empty then air will be getting in the outlet when you are driving about and water is sloshing from one side to the other of the tank.
Two choices: don't let water level get too low or fit a non return valve on the tank outlet hose.

Just connect a tap to your hose reel, every morning open the tap up full and turn the pump up full for 30 seconds. You"ll hear some bubbling then hey presto water starts shooting out.
