I see some people don't use the Gardiner orange/red hose and others brands.

What are the advantages of using normal cold hose?

Lighter hose?

I am assuming disadvantages are...

Can warp and go stringy?

Paying to heat water to X amount and losing X amount at brush head?

Cant go to 60/70/80c

Any stories or experiences ?

the hot water damages the hose, once you start using hot water the hose becomes really stiff and wire like when you only use cold, normal microbore is more effected by the hot/cold cycle than thermobore, thermobore stays more supple when its cold and doesnt go as cooked spaghetti like when hot, also you can use water at a higher temp with thermobore

heat loss at the brush head is mainly down to how much you have heated the water, how far you have reeled the hose out, how cold the ground is and how many times you stop and start the flow like by using a crapadapter after every window, if you stop start the flow all the time the water will only be luke warm or cold where as if you leave it running the water will be nice and warm,

or just do a dazmond and not do it correctly stop and start the flow the water is cold, turn the heat up till your melting the hose and then blame the system as rubbish and go back to cold

I use min- bore in red

Had about 10 left when I closed my old business down, so I use that never had a problem they last about two years I think one is about 4 years old now

I've got one left now so I may try the hot water hose from Alex next year will see

I use a varitec heater its the 9.8 kW set up for one man use so it gets hot this weather sensor will read range between 19c-25c' this weather I'll use the summer setting

i had mine set up perfect this winter scrimble then i broke my heater!(frost damage over xmas)

im sticking to cold now!cheaper,less faffing and im still earning the same money!

We used normal cold water hose with our heater for around 2 years with no problems, as long as you keep using hot, as stated it goes like wire when cold is ran through after hot. IF YOUR SENSIBLE WITH THE TEMP YOU SET IT AT you would be fine IMO.
This hose has been swapped now for thermobore from Mr G. Very nice to work with. The old hose has been fitted with connectors to act as an extension for larger commercial work, it is still very usable but is wearing thin.

P.S if you use it with water that is too hot or an incorrectly adjusted pump controller you are asking for problems.

Thermobore hose is no better than microbore IMO I've used them all and its significantly heavier than microbore,I've got nearly 18 months out of my 100 Mtrs of microbore. Some suppliers sell better quality hose as well it's not all the same quality

Normal hose is made of PVC which will not de-laminate under 35 degrees. The hose layers will come apart and render it useless. Hot hose  (ORANGE AND RED) is made of polyurethane which will de-laminate over 65 degrees and will work better at worm to hot.

i find the orange polehose from gardiners and ionics excellent.Have the original hot water hose from purefreedom six years ago on reel.I find it funny that people one time say that hot water is the best thing since sliced pan and could never go back to cold and then they do and rubbish using hot.I find hot great to work with and when you turn burner to max it is brillant for doing  fascias and soffits.

poli urethane(orange /red) hose is a much stiffer hose than UPVC( yellow) but if its over heated it will become softer when its then cools down it will be more ridged and at this point it is PERMANENTLY DAMAGED.
Understand the characteristics of the plastic is important to what will be best. There is so much crap written about hoses with little understanding of the material of which it is made.

We use ionics Rx hose for our hot. It's designed for it mate. Aquadapters all weather hose is a quality pole hose. Hope that helps. All the best
