Any advice on how to get rid of this!?
« on: January 20, 2015, 09:30:47 am »
Hi there, I recently managed to get spray paint dust all over the carpet. What I should have done was hoover it up but I panicked and tried to use nail varnish remover on a small corner first, resulting in this stain...

I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how I could get rid of this or at least fade it?

Thankyou

The best product would be Chemspec Dye Gone. This is a very effective oxidizing dye removal spotter. This is a great product for removing stubborn stains such as Hair dyes or coloured dyes from other cleaning substances like toilet cleaners etc.

John call a professional and dont buy dye gone and try to use yourself as its harsh and should only be used by pros. The stain will probably be removed by less harsh spotters what a pro will have so call them and get sorted before you ruin it.

Yes endorse what Phil says ...that looks like a tight wool berber mate ,if that is the case if you start chucking anything on it and scrub it or overdo the agitation you could ruin the pile and have another problem on your hands .

I personally wouldn't use Dye Gone on this as its not a "Dye" issue.... Its a "Paint" Issue & whats needed here is solvents & a competent pro who knows how to use them :)
Its not something to try yourself as it needs to be thoroughly extracted immediately after treatment to avoid any damage the solvent may or may not do to the backing... :)

Whats happened here is that the Nail polish remover has "Re-Activated" the paint & allowed the now wet "Thinned" paint to thoroughly coat the fibers.... to remove this succesfully you would need to have the correct solvent solutions to re-activate it once again & extract with the right equipment :)
