So whats so good about builders cleans?

Nothing.

I used to do them and they are really slow at paying.
I used to hate doing them anyway.
Thats why i stopped.

I assume you have to get concrete and stickers off the window, which is annoying >:(

like i said not done for a long time, but it might be worth you just doing one to see how it feels! they are hard work, a real slog, but some time they lead on to other work and you know once you hav eyour teeth into them they keep you, so its sometimes abot the outlook

do i sound like i know what im on about! :-\

Also check all the glass for scratches before you start or you could be working for nothing if they find scratches you will get the blame.

Get them to sign a waiver for scratched glass.

Yes charge them 3 to 4 times you average price.

when i did builders cleans i did the whole property not just the windows and can earn quite a bit of money from them.

So what is the best way to go about getting a contract like this?
Is it by going to see a foreman on sait? I assume a foreman wouldnt give you much time

What i did mind you this was years ago.
Was when ever we see some building work being done was just go and ask if they have anyone to do there builders cleans.

I was lucky i got a few this way and it led to me getting a few others.

For removing just stickers, frame tape, spacers and general dirt etc, charge them x4 minimum. For cement, plaster, paint and other gunk, charge x8 at least. The glass is no problem, the time goes on the frames. You can easily spend 1/2 an hour on 1 frame trying to remove plaster from grooves with a sharpened wet lolly pop stick.

Domestic sites have always been best to work for :) The big industrial sites are a whole different thing >:( Do enough of these and you'll soon develop a hatred for building site managers and f*ucking liars ... I mean painters.

I used to work for a company that only did the builder cleans , i used to get well paid for it so they must have charged a lot also , i found that each housebuilder had a different height of care , by that i mean slap happy renderers !
I found that Persimmons and Wain homes were the worst , i would never bother with a builder clean now im on my own , there were so many accusations from site managers {you scratched all the glass}

Sombody has to pay for new glass , it wont be me !

i met 2 people doing a builders clean today on a wimpy site in hatfield they charged £160 for 3 bed house , thats everything top to bottom . By the sounds of it it takes half a day per house 2 people. they only had the 1 to do ,looked like very hard work to me. said its good if you get 4-5 units to do at same time and the sparkle cleans, show homes ect  gl steve
