Tax deductable allowance query ?
« on: November 30, 2014, 06:34:41 pm »
Hi chaps.

I've been going round in circles with this one for a while and HMRC websites are a minefield so i'm hoping someone can just clear this little query up for me....

Is it true that as self employed persons working away from home that there is a £5 daily allowance for food as we don't work at a fixed address ? Also been told that its a guaranteed allowance with no need for receipts, although obviously you can only claim for the days you work ?

Any help would be appreciated

It is true. Its called subsistence allowance.
You have to be a certain mileage from home though. Cant remember what that is though.
