paul13 on here had  a van kitted out differently from yer normal  tank in the back. He had his pump inlet hose not into your standard tank but into barrel's, the hose had  t splitter on end so it can pull from two drums at same time. So when those empty you just fire hose into  the next two drums n so on. I was thinking of doing it with some 60 ltr drums. Drums held in using ratchet straps n lashing points

this system means it can be taken out easily if ye need van for something else. Honestly cannot be bothered drilling through floor and sorting spreader plates all over again for new system in new vehicle.

If it is really important to you to have the van for something else then why not?

60 litre - drums you would need 8 for a full days work for one man and allowing for the fact that as the level got low then the hose end might get uncovered in one or more barrels sucking in air.

By the time you have done this then why not just have a tank you can easily slide in or out? Maybe 2 x 200L tanks that sit between 120 x 120 angle iron strips that are bolted through the floor and ratchet strapped in?

I have seen a guy with an estate car and six 25 litre drums in the back with a spider hose feed in each barrel to a reel he lifted in and out. But when he had the sovs he went for a van.

I started with a fogwill trolley (2 x 25L drums) plus four more in the car. Then I put a 125L tank in the car. Then a 175L tank. With an extra drum or two.

Then I had a 400L in my doblo van - then when DtM came on board put a 200L in a trailer but finally a 650L in my Hyundai.


In the end nearly everyone goes to as big a tank as they need without faffing

i have a 400L tank with cage and thought about using ratchet straps to secure it.

I personally think with a bulk head and 20 25L containers is far safer than a 500L tank bodged in (not saying you did/do this)

In an accident the containers would all come lose and just rattle about.

if fitted correctly, ratchet straps are better than anything. They hold MASSIVE weights on wagons

my current van is 400l bolted through floor with spreade rplates. Used this for 6 years. New van is vw T5 and looks fairly awkward fitting tank through floor.
