ordered my 350L TANK and 100m microbore and metal reel from gardiners yesterday.ive decided to get a flat tank so the weight is evenly spread out and the drop pipes off my trolley will reach the bottom of the tank!

ive also got 2 five ton ratchet straps to secure the tank down.any of you guys got any pics of tank with straps attached?

im going to have to watch the weight as my van only has a 625kg payload so i will only be carrying the bare min of kit and fuel.

im looking forward to no lugging about of barrels!ill be defo using my warning cones more often though and probably have more hose frustrations but i suppose its a small price to pay for less strain in general during my working day.

i have 1 strap per corner going through the baffle holes and back to the same load point.

I've got a Vauxhall combo with a 350 upright.  In mine there are four mounting rings near the side door which was ideal for my tank.  theres another two near the back door too.
I looped my straps over the top and through the baffled hole. It is also right up against a steel half bulkhead - so it aint going anywhere soon.


Got my hose reel screwed to the floor near the back door too - makes life so much easier. Never had much problem with hose snagging, the odd tryre or corner of kerb - just have to make sure the back of the van is pointing in the right direction and sometimes have to reel out and line the hose up in a different direction before going round the back.

Daz, I reckon you'll have to re-think that 'just dropping your hose into the tank' idea.  It might work, but my feeling is that once your water starts to run low-ish, it'll give you problems.

i used to have 400ltr tank and just used to drop a hose
in the tank from my freedom trolley and never had a problem
when the water got low

whats the point in using a trolley when you have a van mount? i dont like flat tanks the 350l flat isnt that bad but the 250 and 400 are not very tall and suffer with air locks a lot,

dazmond hope this gives you an idea, my tank is a 350l upright in a fiat doblo cargo van secured with two 5tonne ratchet straps bolted with anchor plates to the chassis, reel is secure down i dont tend to take it out when i do jobs but it is quick release so i can if needed, battery is behind passenger seat and the controller has the battery charge facility so i dont tank it out to recharge it.

easy and does the job same as many stupidly overpriced fitted big name systems for a fraction of the price, i will however be making some tubes to put the poles in through the bulkhead attached to the roof so its not quite finished yet

where did you get your tap to fit onto the 350 tank,  did it come with the bend on it

Lol da now uses a bigger tank and a different van with a cage I think, pure freedom sell elbows like that

My advise to you while setting up is make everything as quick release as you can it's easy to take things in to the warm if you need (even if you do heat the water this can be handy) and wash to change things
