Getting business insurance for a car?
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:34:55 pm »

If you are a part time window cleaner and
If you have been working three times a week doing gardening and on Saturdays doing some window cleaning. Earning on average £45 on Sat and £50 in the week. Use your car which has normal 3rd party fire and theft insurance.

Is it worth getting trade insurance?  Or just checking?  If you check the price for trade then if you dont like the price reverts back to normal 3rd party, would the insurance company know what you were up to? Which trade insurance should you go for? Also, how about occasionally put a ladder on the roof rack (once every two months) and might start putting 25litre barrels on backseat of car just on Sat for Waterfed pole cleaning. Is it worth insurance for all this and how much more will it cost?

It doesn't cost much more and yes you do need it as you wont be insured if you don't have it.
Mate got done a few weeks back. he was using his car because his van was in getting fixed and didn't think.
Well he didn't think he would get caught.

If you don't declare that the car is being used for business use you are invalidating your cover.

If you have an accident and plod turn up and you have ladder and back seat full of scrim etc you can bet he will want to see insurance. Next thing is your insurance wont pay out and you are up infront of magistrate 6 points and a fine. Insurance for next few years will cost a lot more than if you declare it now. Bet there are a lot of take away delivery drivers without business use on there insurance.

Interesting!  Why do you say that?
