10 years ago when i stated i did £7/8 min charge for a house from reading on here the £30ph thread years ago, with front only cleans being £4/5. And added £5 for a conservatory

Today i charge £12/15 for the same full house or £10 for the front which is the min charge. And i still only add £5 for a conservatory(maybe more fool me on that 1)

I dont target big houses or target tiny houses just normal terrace and semi's.

Most on here are a little cheaper and it also depends on where you are in the country...

London as we all know is a little bit more expensive so prices are higher but if your in the sticks then you cant squeeze that much out of a regular customer.

It also depends on where you are in the business.... new guys are a little cheaper that someone running it for a couple of years or more.

I started out at £6 for fronts in london but now its £7 for a front.

The most important thing to remember is we are still in a recession and most regulars haven't had a pay rise in 3 or 4 years so money is tight.  Its improving but we still have a few years to go I think.

My prices are low compared to many where i work who take the "mick".
My min charge is rubbish compared to some at £20/25
Im wondering what the £20/25 min charges now were 10 years ago.

There's a guy round here that charges 20 to 25 for a 3 bed semi without a connive, I charge half that. His minimum is 20 quid, don't know how you can get away with charging 20 for a house with about 8 small windows. But if he gets away with it must be possible

I must admit that I don't increase my prices very often at all. It alarmed me the other day when a little girl of a customer was having her 11 birthday and I remember when she was born. I've only increased the price during that period once....by a pound!! Nuts.
As I've been cleaning windows for 30 years next year, and as long as I earn a good wage I don't feel the need to increase prices too much. As someone said a lot of our custys haven't had a wage increase for 3 or 4 years.
I suppose the main reason why I don't increase the prices too much is that I turned wfp 5 years ago and my earnings nearly doubled in the first year of wfp.
So I'm happy, the custys are happy, some even force me to have more money and put their own prices up! got loads of work, so why worry. But I'm a terrible businessman lol

No more dreading telling customers about price increases, paying less tax, getting paid in cash, all coins etc.

Its not about "getting away with it"...

If he manages to get higher priced work than you do then you're either doing something wrong or he's just better at getting higher priced work than you are.

Try charging the same as him... You will probably be surprised.

Without putting prices up every few years you will end up being well out of sync in the longrun!
Hence guys doing houses for £4 and £5 still when others are doingthem for £15/20 a big difference!
If you can say that any fresh house you canvass/leaflet is priced the same as your current work then you are doing things right but if not then you are missing out on money which should be yours if you upped prices with the times correctly.
I failed to do this when i started which is why i sold up and restarted again and will never make that same mistake again.

this is why i started the other minimum price thread mick i need to put up my prices not a lot but a little and certain prices up a little bit more due to not putting them up for six years, and if i use a minimum price on all new quotes in next 6 months or so i will have very well priced rounds
