Hydrogen Peroxide
« on: September 22, 2014, 11:36:57 pm »

Came across this new legislation started on the 2nd September, https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/licensing-for-home-users-of-explosives-precursors/licensing-for-home-users-of-explosive-precursors

Product's like Dye-gone contain 35% Hydrogen peroxide which is now illegal to buy or hold without a licence.

The maximum strength permitted without a licence is now below 12%.

DG may be 35% HP, but that will be 35% by volume, won't it? For example 3% HP in 100ml is 10% by volume. 12% HP in 100ml is 40% by volume.

DG is not just HP but a mixture of chems, the other major one being Ammonia. So the % strengh is not 35%.

Are we 'the public' or business users?

But is this another reason for the customer to use a professional, who has the 'government licence' to use professional spotters not avalable to the general public.

I operate as a carpet cleaner under goverment licence  :D
