I've just ordered a new 6.6 vac motor for my Airflex Storm as it is still on its original motors and nearly three years old and one motor is sounding a little bit louder recently although still sucks o.k.

Never changed a vac motor before and i've been told it is only a 5 minute job, so basically how difficult is it? What tools do i need and any other advice would be welcome.

Also if any one knows any good links on youtube showing one being changed would be good, had a quick look but did not see anything relevant.

no instruction needed, once you open the machine you will be know what to do, if not then you are women.
just do not overtight the bolts when fitting new one.

what about the pump? did you service it?

Had a new pump head fitted last time i went up to Cleansmart a few weeks ago.

If its your first time it'll take you around 30 minutes. Its easy.

Once you've opened the machine up,  Unscrew the two black wires (might be a black and a white wire but don't worry to much which order you put them in)

Unscrew the earth cable.

Then remove the three bolts holding the vac motor.  Stick on new rubber gasket on new vac motor and bolt the new vac motor in place. (not too tight! You want the vac motor to be secure but don't over tighten). Screw in the two wires back in to the white thing. Screw the earth cable back in. And your done.

When you open up the machine remember to lift the catch holding the exhaust pipes to the side of the machine.

Thats all, three wires and three bolts.

So, you'll need a screw driver. And a small spanner.

Well new vac arrived to day via courier, very fast delivery from Cleansmart, and although not opened up machine yet looking at the vac it does not look to difficult.

Question now is do i wait until vac actually goes or do i replace the slightly noisy vac now?

If you think it's on it's way out change it or else you know when it will give up, half way through a job.
