Cleaning exterior brick after house fire?
« on: September 09, 2014, 09:20:02 pm »
We power wash new builds (facing brick and rough cast) & one of the houses went on fire from the outside barbeque and has caused some spot damage 3ft x 3ft

What would be best to use to remove the black soot deposits? I can upload a few photos when I am not using my phone.

Thanks

David

I had decent results with Tensid Safety Klean, which surprised me.

I tried carbon / soot remover but the Safety Klean worked best.  Most of the stuff was shifted but some of the bricks were actually fire damaged.   This was after a garage fire and the area was around 15 metres square.

They'll usually send you a free sample.

I'm far from an expert in fire damage and this was a random one off call where I agreed to try and help. Guy was very happy, the fact he was not paying himself no doubt helped.

I'm sure Lee did one  like this but think it was just soot built up from over the years and not a fire. It's on the 'what have you cleaned today thread'

Thanks guys.

Matt, I left you a voicemail - if you can come and see it at some point I would be more thank happy (if you can complete it) to do it for me as you seem better suited than myself for this area of work.

Give me a call back mate.
