Rug cleaning prices
« on: September 03, 2014, 07:27:24 pm »
I was wondering how much people are charging?

I charge from £59 brought to the shop, I was wanting to know how much people charge for pick up and clean?

Pretty much the same. Find it hard to get a good price on off site rug cleaning. Even after they tell they've spent thousands they are reluctant to spend much on cleaning.

Varies Shaun but never under £65. Usually advise the cheap PP ones are better off replaced (I hate doing them anyway) as it's more economical for them. Just picked an Afghan rug up today brought back from oversea's. It's full of sand etc. 8ft x 6ft, charging £140

I just don't get rugs at all, never ever get calls for them, if I do it's just usually a cheap poly.

The best was one of my partners patients who said she wanted a rug doing, she called me so I went round to quote, it was a door mat pretty much. I said it isn't worth me taking it away but she was adamant, £45 I charged and she was well happy.

I didn't get it, confused me for weeks, I could have bought a new one for £12.

£59 must be for an extremely small rug, Shaun.
I only clean rugs from Ikea or the likes on site.  Any sensible rug I take off site.  It's the only way to clean them.
I'm not prepared to cart a Rug Badger and rug grid around with me. In some cases they are best cleaned by immersion cleaning, so what else than take them off site.

Charge £40 on top of cleaning price for collect and delivery.

Do I recommend that service  :-\-- Had a 12' x 12' Afghan a couple of weeks ago with nobody to help me get it into the truck. Walked like a cripple for days after.

One other drawback of off site - cleaned a Persian off site for an Australian familŷ ca 3 years ago. When I called to advise them it was ready for return delivery discovered they had already departed for Oz.  Value of rug is probably new ca £2 to 3 thousand - but what can I do. It's no use to me but legally I can't get rid of it

How much did you charge for the rug to clean it?

I'm pretty sure that you can sell it after a given period, when I worked for someone we used to have a sale of uncollected items.

6 years, Shaun. You can sell in the meantime but you have to technically keep the dosh for that period

Price for cleaning was £195
