Anyone know how long this takes between passes, is it pretty instant or do you have to keep waiting?

There a few variables  ...
The temp of the water you are feeding through it  ... the warmer the water u feed it the hotter it will come out so if u start with cold .. recirculate the water through it back to your tank while you are setting up .
The wattage of the unit ... its 2000w i think  , not as good as 3000w but better than none .
The flow and pressure u work at  ... it should be more consistent at lower pressure about 150-200 should be ok in general.
The technique u use ..  a couple of dry strokes between wet will help maintain the heat .

Cheers for that! tend to work between 100 & 300 psi  with 1/2 dry passes anyway.
How much you you rekon it's worth second hand?  :)
