A-frame vs Step ladder
« on: August 16, 2014, 08:57:50 pm »
I've been using a step ladder for shop work and lower level work since the day I started but have been wondering if I would find an A-frame ladder more useful.  It seems that most cleaners use them.  What are the benefits?  What height would you recommend as an all rounder?

Cheers

Colin

8ft 'A' frame is what you want. One if the best purchases I've made for my business, you will wonder how you ever managed without one.

Today used a frame and step. A frame is amazing.

Go for the biggest you can carry!

I made this last year it's about 7'6". I made this bigger one because the 6' one I made in 1990 and is still in mint condition was not high enough for the Victorian houses round here with the higher windows and ceilings.
They are much safer than stepladders the 3 point location works like a tripod in principle so they don't wobble or rock and you can use them no uneven and sloping ground.
I would say a must not just for window cleaners but anyone who uses a stepladder.

I think I'll order a 3m a-frame then. I'll keep the steps in the van as the platform is always handy

Thanks for the replys

I've had said 3m is to long - 2m or maybe even 2.5m but not 3m.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

I agree.
You would need to get in to tight spaces, too.

Smart wood work skills, Positivity.

On top of an A-Frame I'd also recommend a wagtail and a short pole.  They're great for shop work.
