the downsides of being a window cleaner
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:38:19 am »
after working as a self employed window cleaner for over one year. only last week it dawned on me how some custys can be snob and look down on you. not directly of course. but you just feel it at the way they patronise you and small gratuitous remarks here and there.also how you have to chase little money ( often just a tenner) even though custys promise you to transfer the money straight away (i'm not talking about custys Whois can't afford it) or when they Know the day you're coming to clean the Windows And they don't even bother to tell anyone in the house or make sure you get paid. also so many unanswered texts. .well i suppose those are the main downsides of being a window cleaner. you also often get that feeling that they don't seem very happy to see you. you know what I mean? Lol

These are what I would call start up customers, customers that you put up with until you on longer need their
custom.
Anybody who has built a successful window cleaning round will have dealt with people like this and over time
culled them from their round.
There are plenty of decent people out there that will appreciate an honest reliable window cleaner who will pay
on time and give you no hassle.
Stick at it and as they say on here canvass clean and cull and it will get better.
I honestly couldn't say a bad word about any of my customers but it took me a few years to get to this point.

What Sean said. ^^^^
You get to a point where you get on with some, and some go onto a waiting list to get booted off the system. Loads of service providers have to deal with this sort of thing.
The only time it bothered me was when I was in my first 12 to 18 months, and struggling with my self image of being a windy I suppose.

Best cure for A$$hole custies is look at your bank balance after the weeks work is done.
No still don't understand, I must be thick

If Im ever getting a "small" amount of money from a customer and they say anything, i always say yeah but think about it 100 people who owe us £10 thats a lot of money, and we do some way bigger houses than this for a lot more dosh!

Also when you get the people who say they bet they are the worst paying customer, expecting you to say no, there are far worse payers, to make them feel better,  just say, no sorry you are one of the worst!!!

Oooooo that is shiny!!
