How much water will I need for a 50 litre RO?
« on: July 15, 2014, 06:47:14 pm »

Want to start out with a small RO as I am traditional and just do Saturdays, thought trolley system with two barrels would do in the beginning.   I live in a shared house and so my RO would be using the landlord's water, I thought it best to ask the landlord before setting it up but I know waste comes off an RO, so how much water in total would I use to fill a 50 litre drum?

How about a really good RO on a small 50 litre tank?   If I upgrade to a bigger tank could still use the RO, would that work?   Or just go for DI  (I live a hard water area)?  I only will use for 1st floors.

Dependent on tap TDS, a decent 4040 ro with pressure at 100PSi can output at 50:50 water/waste ratio, but even then 40% pure to 60% is better for the membrane.

50 litres of pure?
Might as well just DI it.
Or buy some pure from another shiner.
Or fish pond place.

I only have a small ro. 60% waste (max) 40% product, well over 400 tds in and 5 tds out. with water pressure at 115psi and harvest 400L in 24 hours. So not sure that this is a accurate statement.
