6mm microbore question.
« on: June 30, 2014, 02:29:43 pm »
hi guys at present I use 8mm microbore on my reels and have never had issues water flows excellent etc.. however a mate of my uses 6mm inner diameter microbore on his reel and so was just wondering if using 6mm is fine with varistream etc and does the water flow fine etc.. only asking because when I need to change hose might get 6mm instead if there will be no complication. cheers in advance

I started off with 8mm, but switched to 6mm. Was no particular reason, and i hadn't done so on someones advice, just curious. I found works fine, i'm not sure you would notice any real difference in performance one way or the other, possibly a little easier for the water to freeze in very cold conditions, but not enough of a difference to worry about.

Upshot is, 6mm works fine ;D

I used to be of the opinion that 6mm would be considerable more restrictive than 8mm- this was due to a friend having major issues with his 6mm hose. This was the reason I always stuck with 8mm. However, I tried 6mm at the start of this year & have no issues with it at all. The only thing I had to do was increase the pressure setting on my varistream by one value- other than that the flow remains exactly the same. ;) I think my friends issue must have been elsewhere in his system!!
