Brodex Single Digital Twin Speed Controller
« on: June 14, 2014, 09:46:04 am »
My controller has packed in.

If I bypass all fine so need to either repair (unlikely) or replace.

Sods law, brodex out of stock!!!!

Anyone have a spare they want to sell?

The Varistream looks to use the same board, does anyone know if I could use one of theirs?

Here's a link to the part I'm after:-

Thanks in advance

OK, so on closer inspection I reckon all I need to do is replace the small green plug inside the controller.

The part of the plug attached to the board looks salvageable but the other half that pushes in has had it.

Any ideas where I can buy one of these, now......

 :o

Any help on where I can pick one of these up appreciated.

Thanks

Maplins?

At one time Varistream did supply Brodex with their controllers.

The latest Brodex controllers are now supplied by Spring I understand.

Cheers Spruce, I'd say this was a Varistream supplied one so looks like I may be stuffed getting replaced.

Have managed to narrow the issue down to diode or even further in the board. Have now left with a TV Repair guy of all things. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again

p.s. already looked at Maplins and couldn't find a match. As it happens the plug is still making the connection OK.

At one time the electronic board from Brodex was more expensive than a brand new Varistream complete.

In that case it was cheaper to buy a new Varistream, remove the electronics and replace the Brodex part with it. This was the way to go if you wanted to retain use of the Brodex housing and especially if you had their 2 man 'built in' system controller.

Yep, I've emailed williamson pumps, hopefully good news one way or another on Monday.

Thanks again

Hi Tony, much appreciated.

I'll speak with repair guy tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed. If that goes pear shaped then I may well take you up on your offer.

I'll be in touch.

Thanks again

Hi
I had the same problem. You or your TV repair man can bypass the switch so it's on all the time and put a switch between the battery and the controller to turn on and off the other controls pressure and flow were working O.K. though.
The on off switch takes some hammer.
The other controller works but I still switch off using the switch between battery and controller - saves 50% of usage on the switch as it is only used to switch on and not off hopefully it will last a bit longer than the first one!

All sorted now, or almost.

Repair guy says rear of board fried, but is bridging what needs to be bridged.

Williamson Pumps had two of the old style boards left so I have had both, very helpful guys they were too.

One word of warning to anyone using Brodex. I have had this system over two years and it has been great. There was however a 40 amp inline fuse between the battery and the controller. There was a spare cable tied to the live cable.   This should have been a 10 amp.

Worth double checking if you have the same.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies.
