I bought a Bosch lazer meaure a few weeks ago off ebay it was advertised at £57.99 but before I recieved it I had to pay a further £21.70 import duties and vat, so the figure advertised is not always the final cost

Yes ... but not all listings contain the option to prepay ... the link shows the cost of import 33usd which u prepay , so no surprises .
