Help really needed please with leaflet!
« on: March 27, 2006, 01:47:28 am »
Hi all,

I've tried many different designs with leaflets and am still struggling with response rates. Can anyone please email me with a leaflet that actually works. I work around the Yarmouth / Lowestoft area of East Anglia so if you're near don't blame you for not replying.

I'm in need of a decent leaflet because I need to earn some money, dont mind doing the delivering would just like some return on my efforts.

I know its a lot to ask but from one hard working carpet cleaner to another I need some help and quickly!

My email is: info@dirt-busters.co.uk

Any replies are greatly appreciated..........

Kind regards,
Jason.

What do you class as a leaflet that works?
What response you getting with yours at the moment?
What are you aiming for?

Jason,

If you are looking at response rates Jan to March you might have a false picture.

In both Carpets and Blinds my response rates are down but .

I am blaming weather but Market Activity,   competition. Consumer cut backs after Christmas could be playing a part, plus myself, wife, the two ccats and the goldfish,we have all got to get our act together

Although I only live a couple of miles away I don't like to see anybody who appears to be struggling so I will give you one piece of advice, you need to be more consistent, 1 leaflet here, 1 newspaper advert there will never work especially in Jan/Feb. You have just wasted your money, right or wrong?

To be honest I'm glad I've got 16 years of CC behind me and have enough work for myself from repeat and recommendation, I would hate to be starting afresh.
If it's any consolation Christmas 1990 was s**t or bust for me after 6 months in business but I survived to tell the tale.

Dennis, can I applaud your generous spirit in helping your colleague.

That is truly the kind of response that this forum should promote. There are too many people knocking their competitors, when really we should join together in competing against people who DIY clean.

Nice one, mate!  :)

Andrew, i cant seem to find a great deal of evidence in your remarks, that to many are to busy knocking their competitors,

Hi all,

Thankyou for the replies and emails.

Dennis,

Thanks again for the advice and wise words, if anyone knows the industry around here its you! I've learnt (hopefully) by my mistakes with the random advertising. The only reason I take the big adverts on in the local paper is if a rep phones me with a late cheap offer. They have just about paid for themselves so won't bother again, you're right..... a waste of money!

Its funny because I picked up a copy of the Gorleston gazette today and was thinking about putting an advert in. I saw your ad (which I must say is very good). I wont persue this and tread on your toes as you've given advice to me on several occasions and I appreciate it very much, especially being only a couple of miles apart. As I've said before, if you ever need my help (probably not) you know where I am.

Take care mate and all the best.

Well said from those that have commented on Dennis, its people like him that make the world a better place......

Thanks again for all your comments,

I've received some great emails which have given me some excellent ideas for bringing in extra work. All greatly appreciated  ;D.

Kind regards,

Jason.

Jason,

Good win last night ;D

The real key to making leaflets a success is to deliver / have deliverd roughly the same number of leaflets every week.

You cannot expect consistency of work if you have inconsistent advertising.

Cheers

Kim won't let you advertise in the Gazette anyway as it's Gorleston based businesses only.  ;)

Actually that's a good example of consistancy, it took quite a few months to kick in (to the point I was going to stop) but now brings a couple of new customers a week (which is all I need).

Hi all,

Andy,

Sorry my mail box was full, I had 1500 messages in my spam folder and didn't realise! I don't know why I get so many about thingy enlargement, has someone been talking to my missus  ;D!!!

Dennis,

I'm glad the gazette has picked up again for you. Is a good little publication and as I said before your advert is superb! Got a phone call from the advertiser today offerig me a cheap front page again, I gave her your number and said you're really interested, hope you didn't mind  ;D.

Only joking mate, told her I'll give it a miss, gonna try and concentrate on more regular adverts that I can afford!!

Doug,

It was a good win, left it late though!

Yes I'm starting to realise consistency is the key to affective advertising. I'm gonna get my backside in gear and sort out some new leaflets and do some targeted drops. Think its the way to go.

Thanks again for the comments.

Kind regards,

Jason.
