... I was on an estate today when I saw an ex-customer of mine cleaning her windows.

She had stiffed me for 90 euros, and I passed this info on to a good friend of mine whom she phoned a few months ago. He verbally laid into her for her treatment of me, and now no windy will go near her place.

When I saw her toiling away, I couldn't help but smile with huge satisfaction that I no longer have to knock her door to be met with one excuse after another, and what I received the last time I called, verbal abuse.

I wonder if she was thinking it was all worthwhile...

You know that in the 'rules', a unit should help out local small businesses get money owed from their soldiers?

It's true.  Units don't want bad publicity of this sort.  If you know the unit the Col belonged to, you could write them a letter, and action would be taken.  You wouldn't need to know his name, his address would do.

Last time she asked me to do the windows, I politely asked for her to pay me what was owed before I cleaned. She agreed, then told me to work away while she went to the post office to get the money. She had pulled this stunt on me before, then didn't come back, so I wasn't about to fall for it again. I said I would come back and clean when she has the money. This precipitated the verbal abuse she subjected me to.

I sincerely hope she does not call me ever again. I haven't forgiven her the debt, I just realistically don't hold out much hope of receiving it.

Yeah, it takes all sorts to make a world! I would like to be paid, but this lovely lady pleaded poverty when I saw her purse loaded with 50 euro notes, enough to pay me several times over. Nope, I won't get it, but neither will she ever get a decent windy again!

I found "her" on Facebook. Told her she owed two cleans and sh got all bolshy about it. Suddenly, the hubby was using her Facebook account and told me to stop "bothering" his wife about payment!!  I told "him" that he was a strange leader if he though having no integrity wasn't important, and we had better leaders than that in the 70's and 80's 

Anyway, the prat paid one clean, and Hector thinks I should stick the boot in at his unit. I'll leave it though.

Good on you that you were at least able to shame them enough into paying half of what they owe you. Integrity can't be bought though. One either has it or one doesn't.

I did this once Tosh, for a measly £12 (there's a story behind why I pursued it, but won't bore you with it now). I wrote to the regiment's CO. The squaddies wife went ballistic saying her husband had got into trouble etc etc. I explained how it could have been avoided. She sent me the money. I was mightily satisfied.

You are probably right. She always made excuses which pointed the finger of blame at others, never herself. Only now she has run out of window cleaners to use and abuse. Quite honestly, I couldn't give a rat's derriere what she thinks of me. I think even less of her.
