Which 2 man pressure washing set up?
« on: March 04, 2014, 09:12:34 pm »
Hi people
Looking at setting up a 2 man pressure washing van and hoped I may get some help off you experienced people?
Currently running a 15lpm honda gx340 with interpump and built in unloader valve, so no return to tank option I don't think.
It's trolley mounted so any patios or big drives mean  dragging all the kit out and setting it all up & seems to take as long as doing the washing!
So I'll get some hose reels and 50mtrs of hose on them. Aswell.

Which machine would you recommend on a budget to run 2 operatives from with at least 15lpm, ( 21lpm would be better)' needs to be diesel and want it fixed in van.
Van has a 650ltr tank in for water feed.
Also my current hoses are 3/8 I think ,is there a smaller diameter hose suitable for 21lpm that won't affect flow etc

First the unloader is an easy fix to external unloader and RTT return to tank.
1/4" hose is fine but only the last 10m or so as on long runs will loose pressure - 3/8" is fine, I have 60m with the last 10m 1/4".
I would keep what you have but add a new 21 ltr diesel (cheaper to run for a professional).
A 21ltr hot box would run the 15 ltr nicely for gum and allow the diesel machine to run a fsc on the clean.

I have a Lombardini LDW702 with interpump ws202 from Wrightway

Carl, there are lads on here who spend thousands on set ups. What do you call a budget setup ?
Your 650ltr tank will not last 45 mins with your current setup or two on the go approx 20 mins , need 1000ltr
Defo need return to tank feed .Ed

Fantastic reply thank you it's appreciated.

My thoughts were to keep what I got and add to it but wanted to see if it made sense from people like yourself who do this full time.
I don't yet but will be full time on it once I've finished.
What benefits would I get from a hot box on drives etc, I don't plan on doing commercials as yet? And could keep the costs down by adding this late.
Also on the hose do u have a separate 10 mtr hose you attaché before the lance etc or is it tailor made?

The 650 tank would be topped up and connected to the customers water source via a 50mtr hose reel so would act as a break tank and allow us to do the small jobs that have no outside source.( small paths etc)

My budget statement is really just that , if I could set it up for 2.50 and it works then great, however I know this May well cost a few bob.

Carl, why not just upgrade your pump to a WS202 21ltr .If you are not doing commercial why bother with another man set up. You may find that having your PW mobile is more  flexible on domestics rather than fixed. Ed

I have a 400 ltr tank on my van pack jetter and the trailer has a 650 ltr tank. I use a 21 ltr FSC (2x035) but I usually use a 055 turbo nozzle which saves water for slow water feeds but remember if the tap gives only 10 ltr/min then your 21 ltr machine full chat will last over an hour - the tank fills while you drink tea, answer the phone, speak to the customer etc. I can run two machines with two hot boxes but rarely need to - two machines with a small one on gum with hot and the bigger machine running cold. I survived years without a hot box so be in no hurry to get that. I did learn a bit about stain removal using cold as the hot helps there but there are alternatives.
Ask here as you will get several answers - some carp ones but remember there are more than one way to skin a cat. There are people on here who I still ring for advice - some even use electric machines !

The external unloader mod takes an hour given the plumbing. I have a shed full of various machines and each has its job and some still have internal unloaders, some are petrol but only one electric  ;)

Is this doable to upgrade the pump to 21lpm on a gx340 engine?

It's a constant Learning curve whatever we choose to do.
Got a few 2" oil stains I'm gonna treat with ot8 next week ., any tips ?

What parts would I need to change machine over to 21lpm and return to tank?

Personally I wouldn't run the 21 ltr on a GX340 (GX390 would be better) and save for a diesel with the new pump. You only need an unloader, a couple of fittings and the hose to convert. Get a 3/8 bsp swivel into the pump outlet, fix the unloader to this and plug the second pump inlet where the unloader return was. The return out of the unloader goes back to tank - easy. I also return the pressure side to tank via a 3 way valve to change tools as I don't run the same trigger on each. Save up and invest in the best kit as you'll save in the long run  ;)

You would be better getting a bigger machine overall as the lads have said . I believe your machine is a 11HP but the bigger pump requires 10HP . So the machine will  be running flat out for maximum pressure . Ed

Wasting your time with a GX390  for a ws202 they are only about 11 hp . You will lose 1hp to the gearbox. Does not seem a lot but it's 10% down on power already for something that is already struggling. You will lose another 1 hp to old age.

Chris , the GX390 are 13HP and i am sure the WS202 pump only requires 10HP . Damion  at Q services  advises that with this pump you put a double inlet feed to the pump for maximum performance . Nice lad and knows his stuff about PW . Love Ed

Yes Damien does know his stuff.
Yes the Gx 390 13hp is 11hp.
Yes the pump needs 10hp..but i would have money on it the gearbox needs 1 pony to turn it =11hp  Maybe this why Damien makes it easier for the pump to feed itself...it saves 1/2hp ...i don't know?
I think interpump would have made the inlet manifold big enough to allow enough water in ..providing it has the power in the first place.
Yes it will be ok...the figures "just about add up". Then we lose power as we get older...this I am experiencing  ;D
