anyone litery here?
« on: March 21, 2006, 09:29:04 pm »
I do my best to ask for referals but don't actively hand out a referal sheet. I do give them 3 cards and say please pass them on to friends but I feel this is falling on deaf ears!

I'm just writing a trifold leaflet to give to custys telling them about what I have used to clean their carpet/suite and a couple of basic stain removal tips also a couple of other bits, on the back I was wanting to ask for referals but without being to blatant.

I'm trying to come across as a 'doing me a favour but also doing you and them a favour' (if you know what I mean)

Something like:-  As a small business and not a large firm or franchise I do survive on my customers recommendations if you feel that you know anyone that would require my services please would you pass my details to them so I can offer them just as fantastic service as I have you and they can as well benefit.

Yours Shaun

A bit cheesy so I hope you lot can help.

As a growing local business thanks to my customer's recommendations, I would appreciate it if you would write down below one or two names and addresses of your friends or relations who you think could benefit from my services so I can write to them and offer them the same fantastic service as I have given you.

ps Probably needs tidying, I have had a couple of glasses of red, but that is more or less what I use.  ;)

Shaun

Offer them a cash incentive, £5 for each referal. Adjust your prices slightly to compensate. If they pass you five jobs they get 20 quid.
Used to do this years ago and worked wonders.

File open perfectly

I like yours it's simple and plain and you get what you want out of it.

Do you offer a discount to friends and family for an introductory offer?

really i am, there moving up slowly though.

might be a good idea if you got that leaway, but only if you've gave that first customer discount, they might be dissapointed if there friends or families got discount that they never. ;D

On the back page............

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CUSTOM

------------------------------------------------------------

A VOUCHER FOR YOU
£5 off your next carpet clean

valid for 6 months : max 1 voucher per purchase

------------------------------------------------------------

A VOUCHER FOR YOUR FRIEND
£5 off carpet cleaning

valid for 2 months : max 1 voucher per purchase

-------------------------------------------------------------

A VOUCHER FOR YOUR FRIEND
£5 off carpet cleaning

valid for 2 months : max 1 voucher per purchase

-------------------------------------------------------------

On the other side of the page, your name and phone number, printed to line up with each voucher.

That way, every one gets a £5 off voucher, your customer and their friends.

Alternatively, why not get some £5 vouchers printed like business cards, and leave a few with each customer?

Id be interested to see your results from this Shaun.

I used to give them 4 £10 off vouchers.  Glossy card real nice.  Told to pass them one and keep one for themselves.  Very few did it.

Used to ask for names but even less responce.  Would you feel comfortable giving your plumber the names and addresses of 4 of your mates especially if their all high end types.

Now that Ive spotters with my details on them im going to give them a free spotter and 3 vouchers for a free spotter for their friends but will have a deadline of 2 months.  Hopefully this urgency will compel them a bit.

I also used to send a £5 cleaning voucher for each referral but found those who got them never used them.

Another thought is to send a £10 bunch of flowers to them for each referral.
