Posting a PDF document on CIU
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:02:44 pm »
I've had a review done on my website from a fiverr company, cost me £3.16p

He had sent it to me as a PDF document, it's quite interesting I thought it might be of interest to the seo savvy people on here....  but I can't post a PDF

Anyone any ideas?

Mike, just post the attachment on here.

i.e. Additional Options > Attach....

No offence, but if its a Fiverr gig and the seller is expected to engage the brain, chances are it'll be a copy n paste job.

I use a ipad to view CIU, it has a glitch that you can't post attachment or photos with  iPads, i  will use my sons desktop to post it

Dawg you will be surprised with its content, I think some  is generic seo that would be applicable to any website  but some is very relevant.

Mike, I agree wholeheartedly with section 2.5 (the page speed stuff) and by doing similar things have got a site's load time down from 11 seconds to 1.98.

Proposed layout goes against test results that I have seen about full width layouts. From a copywriting point of view, a full width image, video etc acts as a "stop line" (effectively a cut off line) which stops the flow. it acts as though someone has drawn a line across the page.

Personally, I would have a menu on the left as people are used to having one there.

There is no review of site architecture but would you really expect such detail from a Fiverr gig?

As you say, a lot is generic and common sense (e.g. the basic SEO stuff in 2.6). As Tony says, a lot is just cut & paste and use of standard analytical software.

The most important thing here is to TEST everything. You will need to give it time to get enough visitors to give a fair sample. You may find the suggestions make a big difference. Who knows until you test?

love your new office mike, (recommended website cover photo) and the silver plaque on the wall is awesome.  ;D

trouble with reviews like this is!!!! is he right? are his ideas tested or just his own likes and dislikes

sounds interesting but ive heard professional web designers say the exact opposite i.e testimonials on home page, newsletter sign up on home page. I've even heard some experts say get as much as possible on your home page and above the fold as people don't like to click.

just to confirm, I'm not disagreeing with his findings as to be honest, i've not got a clue who is right or wrong.

a minefield of information, bleedin nightmare to decide which way to go. Pretty sure its worth a fiver to get any type of feedback. plenty of info to sift through. good luck with it.

ps... i only read to the first pictures.

Derek those photos on the home page are all fiverr gigs including the top image of the living room with me and my son superimposed.

Garry the more I read it the more I think apart from the page loading speed I will not alter my site, he does not really say anything bad about it,

But  I would have paid £3.16 just for the info on page loading speed

It's funny that it's Derek and Mike who have replied.

I like both of your sites because you have a quick visual guide to what people are looking for (funnily enough, the bit that the Fiverr guy wants removed).

Why would someone any good at all do a review for 3 quid?

a) They want to sell you something else.

b) Its a totally generic, automated process that's worthless

c) He's got no clients because he started last week after reading up on it.

d) He lives in Bongo Bongo land and £3 will feed his family for a month

e) All of the above.

 ;D

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

' Listing pending' according to my places account, which means it's stuck in a hole by google and might show in months if I'm lucky.

I contacted google who replied....... It was dropped of listing as I had not clicked the box saying 'I serve clients at their location'  :-\ :-\ since then it has been listed as pending
