People on this forum earn a living out of window cleaning. Some earn more and some less and more than quite a few just give up.

You won't ever know unless you give it a go but one thing is for certain, no matter how well meaning your family may be, they do not have the experience of those that post on here.

I've been window cleaning for 14 years. I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't earn a living from it and like many others on here I started out from nothing other than a ladder, an old squeegee, a bucket, a few sponges and some cloths and no forums like this and no one to ask questions to. My point is that you have all the tools needed, and the knowledge via this forum, then the rest is up to you and if I can succeed with less than that, and I'm not that bright, I'm sure you can.

Just give it a go.

He is right....he really isnt that bright ;D

So go on give it a go

S.W.

I like models - can't remember the last time I went to a traditional shop.

My Airfix series 1 Messerchmidt -262 - off the net.
My 2nd hand Hornby-Dublo 4mt 2-6-4t off ebay
My 6 Hornby limited edition trainpacks off a customer, boxed mint £300 the lot all go for between £100/£120 as individual packs on ebay.
My scratchbuilt American HO water tower and oil depot - well ... scratchbuilt.
Scenic brickpapers, Peco rail etc - on line or 2nd hand at exhibitions.

So ... sell your hobby stuff on line on rainy days or open a stall at the model railway  show in the village hall to get rid of your stock - ditch the shop and all it's rates and heating and lighting and get window cleaning.
It's a game of three halves!

Remember to learn how to clean windows using WFP.

That's you off my Christmas card list even though you weren't on it anyway.

 ;D

And... of course I'm right.

Running a shop that's hardly covering the bills as opposed to trying something that makes money if the hard work is done in the right way is hardly having to chose between the devil and the deep blue sea?

Yup.

I didn't start out to earn a living from window cleaning. I was on the dole having never been properly unemployed in my life and just wanted to do something to earn the money to buy a couple of pints for me and a few few shorts for the missus on a Saturday evening and nothing else. I don't know how so many seem to be able to afford so much on the dole because when I was on it, we had no money almost for the basics despite cutting back on virtually everything.

And yes, for a few months, I was on the dole and cleaning windows badly untill I was earning to go self employed.

Hi Guys,

Im ready to start my new wfp business beginning of March. Have the van bought and all. Now with the rain and cold weather my family are trying to talk me out of it. That's not my concern. Im just worried about getting the customers. Looking for some encouragement to give me a boost.

Cheers,
   Steve
mate im 52 been wfp for six years,i hear where your coming from,as you get older it gets harder and you get tired, but where can you go at 53 and get a job where you can earn the amount of money you can window cleaning ? ive built a good round over six years and looking to increase my customers via canvassing.
im based in the south and i find a can can earn a good income ,working five hours a day on the pole which is part time hours, but in that time i earn more than other trades do in a full day.
be posotive, keep knocking on doors,if you dont ask you wont get.
good luck
