Should i use a canvasser to build me a new round?
« on: March 20, 2006, 12:02:08 pm »
Hi
I'm new to this forum so hello to everybody. Myself and a friend are looking to buy a window cleaning round in our area, but have had no luck at all. Recently we were approached by somebody who told us that they would build us a round and we would have to pay twice the price of the round.

So my question is: Has anyone used a canvasser to build them a round and how good was the service, how many people dropped out after the guaranteed clean stage?

Thanks
Mike

Hi and welcome.
Why not try and canvass yourself.
You'll be surprised what you can pick up at only the cost of a bit of spare time you have in the evening.
The people that aren't in drop a flyer through their door and call back again on another day.
This is how i started and after a while if your work is good enough and you are regular you will get work from recomendation.

craig is right you cant beat knocking up a round yourself .but if you want a round quickly it s best to buy or get one canvassed.
id go for gaetting one canvassed, bolught rounds is always a bit dodgy.
doorknockers are often on the another forum site and seem to get possitive feedback.but there are other companys that do this.
when i started i bought a small round and built on it.
good luck

I think you should try canvass yourself rather than pay someone to do it. I just started window cleaning a month ago and have now 42 regular customers per month with an average price of £15. I have a long way to go before I am earning a good wage but Im still well on my way!

I leaflet dropped about 1000 houses (got another 4000 leaflets to go but just havent had the chance as Ive been so busy!) after I posted them I returned to the houses a week later and said to the house owner whilst displaying my leaflet to them 'Hello, I'm Adie. I dropped this leaflet through your door last week and was wondering if you would like a no obligation quotation'
Always smile (but not manically) be well dressed and smart and be as professional as possible.
If they want you to do a quote tell them that you will give them a knock as soon as it is finished. That way they will not have to stand out in the cold and they will appreciate it.
If they decide not to go with the quote, smile and say thanks for their time and leave. Dont try and pressure them! and if they say they already have a windowcleaner and can you beat their price DO NOT UNDERCUT THEM. There is plently of work around so is best not to take somebody elses work. besides, you will end of working for peanuts anyway if you did go cheaper than the going rate!
If you are nervous about canvassing just remember that it is just the 1st one that is the hard one! Once you get over the first one the rest is easy.

Go for it dude and enjoy it and keep looking on this website for help, questions and encouragement. If it wasnt for the guys here I would have been still sat in my boring office job dreaming of  running my own business!!

fantastic advise RO-sheen.
its good to canvass your own work, but if you have a bit of money stashed and you want a ready made round, buying from a canvasser is a good bet.
as already mentioned, doorknockers do this.
i can vouch for them as my friend used their services and they were very professional and above all accountable, if your not happy with anything they get for you they will refund it or replace it, same if you get any cancellations.
they charge twice the amount canvassed and their minimum is a £500.00 round which will obviously cost you £1,000. they got my friend his round over a period of a few evenings and we are now in the process of doing the first cleans which are going well.
obviously its cheaper to canvass yourself as it costs nothing but your time, but 8 weeks after spending the money my friend will be earning a very good wage, its all about what your needs and budget are.
if you google for doorknockers im sure you'll find it as i cant lay my hand on their web ad at the mo.
hope this helps
