Me: My quote is £80 (i went today and had a look)

Customer: That includes the windows aswell I take it?

Why waste your time quoting if you knew you wouldn't get near the price?

the customer in this case is using you to reinforce his need that he has got a good quote and also just to see if he can get it cheaper off you, you turn up and think yeah ok £35.00, so on etc/.

I find having a structured price for these things the best, 3 bedi semi..£50.00, 4 Bed £75.00 and so on

But this is why i dont get involved in this kind of work anymore i just feel its a down ward spiral, Price wise

How the hell can you quote gutters based on bedrooms.I have some 2 bedrooms houses with more gutters than some of my 4 bedroom houses. Surely it must be by the meter.

How the hell can you quote by the metre Smithie? Surely it depends on the height they are off the ground and how easy it is to get to them.  ::)roll

we price on style of house, number of bedrooms, extensions etc

it's a great way to do it IF you want to be able to quote over the phone (to stop wasted time) OR you want to get consistant pricing in a multi employee business

some houses end up more expensive than you'd quote on site, and others cheaper...  but it's pretty effective and evens out over the year

My spanner for today was a new quote (tiny terrace) hadn't been cleaned in years.
Customer: So how much
Me: £14 every 8 weeks but as they are particularly dirty, the first clean will be £18.
Customer: The price is good I'll just check with the missus.
Me: Lovely, when would you like me to do them.
Customer: I've got some time off at the end of February!
Me: OK give me a ring...
I left skid marks.  ;D
